Since the beginning of this year, the Caofeidian Port Area in Tangshan has officially entered a new phase of regular full-load berthing for 400,000-ton ultra-large ore carriers, providing a critical maritime channel to ensure the supply of bulk iron ore and enhance industrial synergy in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. To fully adapt to the new operational model of ultra-large vessels in the port area, the Tangshan Office of China Classification Society (CCS) has proactively stepped forward and provided precise support. They have established an inspection assurance mechanism tailored to the operational characteristics of ultra-large vessels, offering professional, standardized, and long-term inspection technical services to continuously strengthen the intrinsic safety defenses for the operations of ultra-large vessels in the port area.

The 400,000-ton ultra-large ore carriers are massive in size and have a deep draft, requiring extremely high technical standards for hull structural strength, ballast water control systems, mooring and anchoring equipment, core electromechanical devices, and pollution prevention facilities during berthing and loading/unloading operations. The stable safety performance of the vessels themselves is a crucial prerequisite for the port area to achieve regular full-load berthing and large-scale efficient operations. In light of the new situation of the gradual implementation of regular berthing of 400,000-ton giant vessels in the port area, the office has established a work system of "preliminary assessment, early coordination, full-process control, and closed-loop traceability." This system ensures regular collaboration with the port, maritime authorities, and shipowners, dynamically tracks ship arrival schedules, conducts risk assessments in advance, identifies key inspection areas, and formulates specialized inspection plans to ensure that inspection preparations are completed in advance.

The "Yuanguhai" vessel inspected this time is the third 400,000-ton ore carrier inspected by the Tangshan Office in the Caofeidian Port Area this year. The team of surveyors boarded the vessel to conduct comprehensive special inspection audits, strictly adhering to operational regulations and port area standards. They meticulously checked the hull structure, the operation of key equipment, and compliance conditions item by item. For any potential hazards identified during the on-site inspection, they promptly provided technical guidance and urged the shipowner to implement closed-loop rectifications, ensuring that the vessel was in good technical condition for loading and unloading operations and fully met the navigation and safety production requirements of the port area.

Currently, the Caofeidian Port Area has established a safety assurance closed-loop system that integrates maritime navigation control, port hardware support, and classification society technical verification. The Tangshan Office continues to rigorously verify the intrinsic safety of vessels, conducting specialized inspection audits with strictness and precision, providing solid technical support for the steady advancement of regular full-load berthing of 400,000-ton giant vessels in the port area.

Next, the CCS Tangshan Office will closely follow the pace of building Caofeidian into a world-class deep-water port, continuously optimizing inspection processes, refining service standards, and enhancing the quality and efficiency of support.
