From March 15 to 16, 2024, China-US high-level economic and trade consultations were held in Paris, France. He Lifeng, the Chinese leader and Vice Premier of the State Council, together with the US leader, Finance Minister Besent and Trade Representative Greer, led by the important consensus of the two heads of state, conducted frank, in-depth and constructive exchanges on issues of common concern, such as tariff arrangements, promotion of bilateral trade and investment, and maintenance of existing consultation results. During the talks, the two sides reached some new consensus and agreed to continue to maintain the consultation mechanism. Vice Premier He Lifeng reviewed the results of the five rounds of consultations last year, emphasizing that it has injected certainty into the economic and trade relations between the two countries and the world economy. He also pointed out that the United States has recently imposed tariffs in accordance with domestic laws and introduced a series of negative measures related to China. China has always opposed unilateral tariffs, urged the United States to completely abolish relevant restrictive measures, and will take necessary measures to defend its own rights and interests. China hopes that the United States will meet each other in the opposite direction, jointly implement the consensus of the heads of state, expand cooperation and reduce differences. The United States said that stable Sino-US economic and trade relations are of vital importance to the two countries and the world, and contribute to global economic growth and financial stability. The two sides should resolve differences through consultations and avoid escalation of friction. Finally, the two sides agreed to study the establishment of a cooperation mechanism to promote bilateral trade and investment, continue to play the role of the existing consultation mechanism, strengthen dialogue and communication, properly manage differences, and expand practical cooperatio
