Leverage the platform's role to serve the development of Hong Kong as an international shipping center.
On August 5, the Hong Kong Green Marine Fuel Development Exchange Delegation (referred to as the Hong Kong Delegation), led by Deputy Secretary for Transport and Logistics of Hong Kong, Liao Zhenxin, visited the China International Sustainable Transportation Innovation and Knowledge Center (referred to as the International Center). Both sides conducted in-depth exchanges on green marine fuel and reached a consensus on cooperation.
The International Center and the Hong Kong Transport and Logistics Bureau jointly organized the "Green Marine Fuel Industry Cooperation Seminar." Liao Zhenxin and Liu Peng, Director of the International Center, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Over 50 members of the Hong Kong Delegation, including representatives from Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited, Huaguang Energy Company Limited, CIMC Enric Holdings Limited, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, participated in the seminar. The International Center invited enterprises and universities such as COSCO Shipping Group, China Merchants Group, Liaoning Provincial Transportation Construction Investment Group, Yantian International Container Terminals Limited, Liaoning Port Co., Ltd., China Power Engineering Consulting Group, Zhejiang University, and Dalian Maritime University to attend. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as jointly building a green energy transportation corridor between Hong Kong and the mainland, and the internationalization development path of green marine fuel standards under new circumstances.
Participants unanimously agreed that Hong Kong and the mainland should further deepen cooperation in areas such as green marine fuel to promote the green transformation and upgrading of the shipping economy in Hong Kong and the mainland. The green marine fuel international certification system led by the International Center, as a Chinese standard, aligns with China's local conditions and is gaining increasing international influence. Relevant parties, including Hong Kong, should continue to strengthen their support and application of China's green marine fuel international certification system.
After the meeting, the International Center and Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited signed a memorandum of understanding, further deepening cooperation in areas such as the production, storage, and utilization of green fuel, and continuing to strengthen research on the international standard system for green marine fuel.
